Spring Flowers: The Best Reasons to Send Blooms in April

Spring is a season for new beginnings. And what better way to celebrate than by sending spring flowers from Payne’s Florist in Fort Worth, TX? April is full of holidays and special events, and each one offers a unique reason to send blooms. Here are some of our favorite reasons to send April flowers this year along with a few of our favorite flowers for each occasion!

Easter – Sunday, April 17

Easter is a time for family, friends, faith, and flowers! But did you know that Easter is the fourth biggest floral holiday of the year? And while it may not get the same recognition as Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Christmas, or other national holidays, flowers and Easter plants have long played a very important role in Easter and Passover observances. They are synonymous with the holidays in both home decorations and as gifts.

Our favorites Easter flower arrangements include Easter lilies, tulips, and daffodils. Lilies are popular symbols of Easter as they represent love, hope, and resurrection, making them the perfect gift for this spring holiday. White lilies are especially symbolic during Easter because they signify purity and divinity.

Tulips represent springtime and new beginnings, which makes them an ideal gift for anyone starting a new chapter in their life. Daffodils are associated with springtime and rebirth, making them an ideal gift for someone who has overcome a difficult time. No matter who you are celebrating Easter with, Easter bouquets are the perfect way to show your loved ones how much you care. Easter flower delivery is also available.

Administrative Professionals Day – Wednesday, April 27

Whether you call it Administrative Professionals Day, Admin Day, Admin Pro Day, or even National Secretary’s Day, this holiday honors all of the people working behind the scenes in offices and corporations. By recognizing the work of executive assistants, administrative assistants, personal assistants, secretaries, receptionists, customer service specialists, as well as other administrative support professionals. In many instances, this observance lasts an entire week, becoming national secretaries week, or administrative professionals week.

There are many ways to celebrate the administrative professionals in your workplace, but flowers are a foolproof way to make them feel extra special! Some of the best flowers you can send for Administrative Professionals Day include pink or peach roses, daisies, and yellow lilies.

Pink and peach roses represent appreciation and gratitude, making them the perfect way to say “thank you” to your administrative team. Daisies symbolize innocence, loyal love, and purity, making them a great gift for someone you admire and respect. Yellow lilies are associated with happiness and well-wishes, making them a perfect pick-me for professional associates.

Prom – Dates Vary

Prom season is one of our favorite times of year because we love working with excited (and usually nervous) students who may not have ever experienced buying flowers from a professional florist. We know that can be a scary endeavor for teenagers who may not know a lily from a lilac, but fortunately, we’re here to help!

Rose Simplicity boutonniere by Payne’s Florist – Fort Worth, TX

Modern prom flowers are available in a variety of different forms but typically consist of a wrist corsage for the ladies and a matching boutonniere for the gentlemen.

Traditionally, the colors and flowers used in the prom corsage and boutonniere are matched to the color of the prom dress; but like most rules, this one was definitely made to be broken.

Today’s corsages and boutonnieres are limited only by the imagination and the flowers available to the florist. However, it’s important to keep in mind that prom night is centered around dancing, so the flowers should not only be beautiful, but also functional enough to withstand an entire evening of festivities.

Mother’s Day – Sunday, May 8

While technically not in April, Mother’s Day arrives in early May this year as it falls on Sunday, May 8. This holiday is the perfect opportunity to celebrate mothers and show your mom, step-mom, grandmother, or any of the other incredible mother figures in your life just how much you appreciate them.

There are a lot of ways to show your mom you care on Mother’s Day. From taking her out to brunch to giving her a day of pampering. But one thoughtful way to make her feel extra special is by sending her flowers. All mothers deserve a beautiful bouquet on their special day, but if you want to go above and beyond, consider sending flowers that have a special meaning.

For example, did you know that red roses symbolize love and appreciation? Pink roses represent gratitude, joy, and admiration, making them the perfect way to say “thank you” for all that your mother has done for you. Yellow roses are associated with friendship and happiness, making them a great gift for mothers who are also friends.

Blue hydrangeas represent understanding and patience – two qualities that all mothers possess. No matter what type of flowers you choose to send your mom this Mother’s Day, she is sure to appreciate the gesture!

Whatever your reason, say it with flowers this April with the help of your friends at Payne’s Florist. No matter the occasion, we’re here to help you find the perfect gift this spring. Same-day delivery is available in Fort Worth, TX and surrounding areas, or anywhere in the USA for birthdays, anniversaries, new babies, get well wishes, thank you, sympathy, or even just because.

Holidays, July 4th, Summer

Celebrate the 4th of July Weekend with Flowers from Payne’s Florist and Gifts

The 4th of July is a summertime celebration filled with fireworks, parades, picnics, and a lot of patriotic pride. While our original Independence Day took place way back in 1776, the party didn’t really get started until a year later when the first official celebration took place in Philadelphia. That celebration included many of the same festivities we still observe today.

If you want to celebrate July 4th in style, do it with flowers! Decorating for this holiday is as easy as red, white, and blue – but that certainly does not limit your options! At Payne’s Florist we specialize in utilizing a variety of flowers in unique ways to really accentuate the spirit of the holiday.

One of our favorite parts of any holiday is the symbolism that goes along with some of the traditions. One example is the symbolic colors of the American flag. Red in the flag is said to symbolizes courage, bravery, and passion. White serves a different purpose at it represents purity and innocence, and blue symbolizes vigilance, perseverance, and justice. Just like our nation’s flag, the colors of flowers are important and symbolic.

Roses, carnations, and gerbera daisies are some of the popular flowers traditionally used in Independence Day arrangements. Those flowers pair especially well with complementary white lilies, gladiolus, and mums. Blue delphinium is often used to round out the trio because it looks beautiful next to any shades of red and white. Even if arrangements do not stick to the traditional red, white, and blue designs, they can be accented with an American flag or some glittery firework accents for a festive finishing touch.

With a 3-day long Independence Day weekend coming up, now is the perfect time to honor a veteran, or decorate you yard for a 4th of July picnic. No matter how you choose to celebrate, Payne’s Florist has the flowers and inspiration to help you create a one-of-a-kind Fourth of July bouquet that will truly commemorate and celebrate our nation’s most historic day. Same day delivery in Fort Worth, TX or anywhere nationwide. Shop online 24/7 at paynesfloristandgifts.com or call us at 817-294-8941.

Seasons, Summer

Our Favorite Flowers of Summertime

Summertime is back again which can only mean one thing – the sun is shining bright on some of the most beautiful flowers we have seen all year. Here are some of our favorites:

Peony: Because of their large, soft, silky, and romantic blooms, peonies make wonderful cut flowers. They can be found in a range of soft colors – and a few brighter ones – making them ideal for weddings, as well as for the home. In many ways they are better as cut flowers than roses, but the season is very short. Peony flowers are only available from late May and through June. But, in water they will last far longer than a rose.

Lavender: Cut lavender flowers to bring indoors for making beautiful arrangements. Lavender bouquets can use fresh or dried flowers or savor the best of both worlds by arranging fresh stems and letting them air dry in the vase. The secret to success with lavender bouquets is harvesting flowers at the right stage. Lavender is an easy-to-grow herb, and it is also an easily handled cut flower. Harvest it fresh and use it fresh or dried to create pretty lavender bouquets.

Dahlia: Dahlias are one of the best garden plants for growing to use as cut flowers. They have an outstanding vase life. There’s a huge amount of different types to choose from with flowers in various forms and a spectrum of colors. While all dahlias are good for cutting, some types are particularly so, with long stems and extra-large blooms that will dazzle in any indoor posy.

Hydrangea: The beautiful flowers produced by this plant are what makes these so popular. Most put on a showy display from early spring all the way into fall. The large flowers come in a variety of shapes, colors, and sizes. The name hydrangea comes from the Greek words “hydor” meaning water and “angos” meaning vessel. Which together roughly translate to “water barrel.” This is because of the fact that hydrangeas are notorious for needing lots of water and the cup shaped flowers.

Daisy: As cut flowers, daisies work well in homes that have a casual, country feel. The best daisies for cutting have long vase lives, colorful flower heads and sturdy stems. White daisies are also an excellent way to accent other cut flowers in a bouquet. They may be small blooms, but they make up for their diminutive size in group volume. Daisies make up almost 10% of the world’s flowering plants.

Lily: Cut lilies add graceful color to indoor flower arrangements. Native to the Northern Hemisphere, lilies have been seen as a flower of significance for thousands of years because of the extensive symbolism that surrounds them. The lily represents femininity, love, purity, and a sense of transience.

Sunflower: With brilliant yellow petals, also known as “rays,” sunflowers have an unmistakable sun-like appearance that has made them a crowd favorite, especially in the summer months. Sunflowers commonly symbolize adoration, loyalty and longevity.
